Settle the date
A date chooser. Everyone taps the Saturdays they can do; you see the winner. Nobody asks "wait, which weekend?"
Pick the SaturdayI organize
Shatuga makes the small free tools that get a group from "who's in?" to "see you at eight" without a reply-all thread. Pick a date, divvy up the jobs, warm up the room, say thanks. No logins for your people, no ads, nothing to install.
A date chooser. Everyone taps the Saturdays they can do; you see the winner. Nobody asks "wait, which weekend?"
Pick the SaturdayA task chooser with a cap on each job: two on the kayaks, one driving the truck, as many as want to on the bank. First come, first claimed.
Set up the jobsA word cloud on the big screen. "What brought you here?" Thirty strangers, their phones, one grin.
Open EngageThis one is a river cleanup. Yours might be a food bank, a choir, a congregation, a trail crew. Same week, different mud.
Jo drops one link in the group chat. By Tuesday night nineteen people have tapped the Saturdays they can do, and the fourteenth wins by a mile. Nobody replied-all. Nobody had to be chased.
Made with Chooser, a date chooser.
The task chooser goes out: two on the kayaks, one driving the truck, one on first aid, everybody else on the bank with grabbers. Each job has a cap, so the kayak seats fill in an hour and the rest sort themselves out. The flyer in the coffee-shop window gets a QR code that opens the same link.
Made with Chooser, a task chooser, and the QR code generator in Tools.
Coffee, mist on the water, thirty people who mostly don't know each other. Jo puts a word cloud up on the laptop on the tailgate: "What brought you here?" RIVER. MY KID. BOREDOM. PENANCE. By the time the words stop moving, the kayakers have named their boats.
Made with Engage, a word cloud.
Fourteen bags, one shopping cart, a boot nobody will claim, and sandwiches on the rocks with people who were strangers at eight. This is the part no tool makes. It is the part the tools are for.
One more link, a quick poll: "Same time in four weeks?" Twenty-two yeses and two "only if there's coffee again." (The longer "how did it go?" is what Shatuga Feedback is for. It is in closed beta; it's next.)
Made with Engage, a poll.

Start with the date. It takes about as long as reading this page did.
